27 Dec 09: The recent attempt to detonate an explosive device on a plane landing in Detroit is clear evidence that terrorism is still a real threat. The current administration has changed how it refers to terrorist activities. “Terrorism” is called a “man-caused disaster.” The “Global War on Terror” is now an “Overseas Contingency Operation.” The term, “enemy combatant,” has been dropped while giving Guantanamo Bay detainees broader rights to challenge their detention. Both the White House and Congress are moving toward a “pre-9/11” mentality.
As your representative, I will work diligently to keep you and your family safe. Terrorism is real and cannot be minimized by “politically correct” terminology.
